Hi all you may remember some time ago that I had an issue with my cam chain jumping, well as I was moving house it did it again so I bit the bullet and tock the bike to my local bike shop.

I managed to find a manual cam chain tentioner and gave it to them to fit .

I dropped in yesterday and was told that they had a few problems the chain was twisted and they put it back together only to find that there was no compression. I did point out there was a decompression system in place.

When I looked at the the bike they had removed the head and were now saying it could be a big bill. Its a bike shop I have always supported but I really feel like they didn't have a clue what to do.

Im as mad as hell I always do my own bike work and I know that it was a job I could have done with no problems all I was missing was time and a garage to do the work .

They are going to ring me in the next few day to let me know what is going on.

Im going to bring her home and see what can be done to her .

If its not good I might well part her out or sell her as a none runner.

no

You've been unlucky with that bike since the day you got it. Time to move on perhaps?

I do think its a friday bike .
I nipped into the bike shop the other day and they did admit that the auto decompresion system might have stumped them. They are going to have a look at the valves and think that they might be ok after all .
So watch this place it might well come back. In a way I would like to keep it but it might be a case of selling on .

Hi All well its been a long time since I parted with my WRR and entrusted it in the arms of a bike shop in fact it was the 24th of August seas you can see its gone on a bit .
Well the shop said that the valves were in good nick no damage but they were leaking and that they needed to be lapped in which they did then the shims were al wrong so they had to be changed the head was now perfect. Leading up to christmas I dropped in to see them and was told every thing went back on and a compression test came back as still low. They had taken the pot off and thought the rings were to blame so suggested new rings to sort the issue .
I dropped in a few days ago and at last everything is back together and perfect. The guys at the shop are trustworthy and they do know what they are doing so I sort of believe that there were these issues )( they also gave a very good mates rate on the hours ) .
Im looking forward to riding it to see if the work has made any difference.
This will be the last repair I will pay for as Im getting a new workshop in the next few days and I will once again be able to get dirty in the warm.
All in all its been a massive ordeal trying to sort this and I have to say I feel a little dented, but Im sure after the first ride I will once again fall in love with her .

How is the wr now? I hope its running sweet.

Was it the rings causing low compression and wht reading is considered low or high?

What started the problems in the first place ?

Hope its putting a smile on your face again ?

Hi there well just a quick update, I picked the bike up last week and the first thing I noticed was how tall it was.
It was great to back on it if only for a short time. At the moment I can't store it at home so its sitting in a friends garage I hope that I will have it home in the first week of march.
Ride wise it did feel like it has a lot more engine braking, performance wise I cant really try it out until its all bedded in.
Its odd I checked the compression last year and it seemed ok but maybe two skipped cam chains might have taken the toll on the valve and ring seating .
I have looked around and there are a few people who have had the same cam chain tensioner failure . I have gone for the manual one which I hope will sort out.
Im looking forward to getting out over the summer so we will see how it works out .
