Can't you dress it out with an oil stone?  Small indentations can be ok if you can dress out any ridges that bugger the oil seals.

I have filled odd nicks in forks with J B Weld. Clean the leg up and them fill the nick, when dry rub it down so its level with the chrome with some very low grit wet and dry. Good luck .

filled and rubbed but still a very tiny misting . cant seem to get it smooth enough would like to cure the problem for good . the rest of the bikes ok it just a thorn in my side ,as i want to take the bike to morocco later this year .I suppose a large tank is on the wish list to ?
