Foot pegs- wider, lower and further back!

Okay, so short story is that having slung her down at speed, quite hard on rocks, i bent my wide, 5mm lower, custom made pegs. Would have been fine in mud as they really are very strong, but rocks it was frustrated.gif. The peg actually bent back enough to strike the foot brake lever taking out a tiny chink (can be seen in the photos at about 5 o'clock from the brake lever pivot point)...no major though and brake still functions just fine. Right, naff story over, on with the excitement...

Being that the pegs now needed to be replaced, i turn back to Radan in the Czech Republic for his superb workmanship once again, only this time asking for something a little different. I am 6' 1" without boots and have found however high i raise my bars, it obviously doesn't change the distance between my legs and the pegs smile.... That was until 25mm lower, 25mm further back wide pegs were made.....

I have had to remove the lower locking nut from the brake lever height adjuster, trimmed off about 5mm from the bottom of that threaded stem, then spun the clevis back on right up to meet the brake lever height adjuster upper nut. Only then would the brake lever drop low enough. Finally not forgetting to re adjust the brake light switch, and slightly bending/ adjusting of the brake lever springs biggrin.... Now working beautifully.

The gear lever side can be adjusted no problem.

A nice bonus in addition to a much more comfortable riding position, is that it appears the peg when folded back if struck, should not be able to interfere with the brake lever again, causing damage as it did before...watch this space, only time will tell smile.

You can get hold of Radan who does make a few different versions of pegs for the WR as well as for a variety of other bikes at:  bosley@centrum.cz   He's a great guy. Super fast and prides himself on his workmanship and service at an affordable price.

Ever more comfortable, riding ever harder.

Root smile.

I have the same pegs on my WR, but after woods and few jumps over logs I found one of my peg was bent backwards. so these pegs are good if you ride easy stuff. For gnarly stuff i recommend to buy standard height or lowered, but not set back pegs.

Hi Tomasn. Photo not loading - can you check please?

Best to upload photos to the forum rather than link to external sites as the photos often get lost over time.

Many thanks

Brian

Sorry to see that you bent your pegs Tomasn. I too have bent a peg on one side before with these pegs. To be fair though, it is when ridding hard and aggressive. They are obviously only made of stainless steel and with a severe impact, will of course bend.

What i will say is that they bend a lot less easily than the stock pegs. Also that if they didn't bend at all, the shock of the impact would be carried through to the bike, which would not be good! I would rather have to replace the occasional damaged peg that i can't bend back into shape, than i would having to repair expensive damage to the rest of the bike / engine.

Paul.
