This is a fantastic mod that i've been meaning to post up for some time now, just been so busy out riding in my free time to have a moment. It's cheap easy and a huge improvement imho.
Many of you may find that you get somewhat of an ache in your wrist when constantly cranking out full throttle, particularly on the highway or when riding standing up. This would be largely because our stock throttle tube is a 1/4 turn to achieve full throttle.
The Yamaha R6 throttle tube happens to be a great alternative as it is a 1/6 turn to full achieve full throttle. Simply, it has a slightly larger circumference at the end the cables attach to and yet still nicely fits within our stock throttle housing.
The R6 tube can only be bought with a new nylon washer and grip of which you will simply remove and bin. The grip does unnecessarily push the tube price up a bit, but is still only around £25 online.
You will need to trim the length of the tube down a little. Offer it up to your stock tube for a guide, mark it and cut it with a hack saw....takes all of 10 seconds.
Slide your tube on (don't forget the nylon washer), fit the cables in place, screw up the housing, fit the grip of your choice and then re set your throttle cable adjuster so that when you twist the throttle tube fully open and release, it snaps back shut as it should (turn bars fully both ways as you do this making doubly sure).
It really has made things feel so much more comfortable and responsive. It almost feels like a poor mans power mod...lol . Standing up riding, quickly getting up to speed on the highway, clutching the front wheel up for a wheelie and so much more, an R6 throttle tube has helped with it all and was well worth the effort.
Now wring the neck out of it, your R6 throttlin'
Who loves ya,
