In the midst of raising my bars, i have a quick question....
Can i rotate the front brake line banjo up from the horizontal position that it is currently sat in (see photos below), to maybe a 45 degree angle or more?
I'd like to tilt my brake lever down another 10mm or so, but as you can see the brake line interferes with the newly installed hand guards. If i loosen the banjo and tilt the brake line up a little, would the brake fluid still function correctly dispite it kind of then exiting the reservoir upwards? And would the banjo also be liable to leaking if i tilted the brake line upwards?
IMHO it shouldn't make any difference. The banjo bolt arrangement with its oil passage through the hole won't mind which direction the hose is facing. It may give a slightly high point for bleeding but I wouldn't have an issue running with your suggested solution.
If you're breaking the banjo Union just make sure you use new washers (Brian?!) and you'll have no more likely hood of a leak than the rest of us.
If you only loosen the banjo bolt just enough to move the position of the hose then you should be able to re-tighten it without losing any fluid and still have a leak-proof joint. It's worked for me in the past
... much thanks to you both. It was one of those think before you act moments. I was sure it'd be okay, but having the nod from you guys fills me with confidence to go ahead. It makes such a difference from the usual muddling through alone. Gotta love this forum
