Fork Shrouds

I had been told that the WRR forks were known for rubbing on the inside of the fork shrouds, causing a little premature wear. Having just checked mine, low and behold, a little wear.

Problem quickly resolved. 1. Take off shrouds.

                                         2. Run a heat gun up and down the inside of the shroud and particularly the area needing to be bent out some.

                                         3. Wearing gloves ( it's a bit hot now biggrin ) , bend the shroud out to a more suitable shape/ curve.

                                         4. Dunk the shroud into a bucket of cold water to set shape/ curve and cool down. Then simply bolt back on. Job done.

Apparently the WRX doesn't suffer this problem as i think it's shrouds are shorter. I believe some people are even known to put X shrouds onto the R for this very reason. 10 mins, a heat gun and a bucket of water sounded cheaper to me...smile

That is happening to mine too.  An excellent fix.  I'll give that a try tomorrow (after I've fixed the shower).

Interesting fix - thanks for that!

My mate's WRR is suffering and I bought a pair of after-market fork guards for him but he has rejected these as they had the same issue. Maybe I can persuade him to take them off my hands know we know the "fix" biggrinbiggrin
