Looks like the WRR/X take a YTZ7 battery. Does this look right and has anyone tried them?

Hi Brian,

That's the right model type and is the same dimensions as mine, with pos and neg the right way round.  That's incredibly cheap!!!  What's the catch?

I was hoping someone might have used one and could give some feedback Steve. You can't go far wrong with a battery though can you?

Not at that price you can't.  And it's a known and trusted manufacturer.

I thought my bike had a duff battery when I bought it.  It went flat after a couple of days.  A good charge and it's been fine since.  I put it down to too many short starts in the garage before I actually got out to ride my new toy.

As I expected, the WRR has arrived without a battery so I have ordered one so should be able to report back soon. Menawhile, with all the electronic gadgetry on the bike I don't think I should mess around trying to start it using a battery tender confuse

Are there likely to be any problems with it being off battery for at least a month?

Brian

Anyone used an Optimate battery charger? I'm particularly looking at the Optimate 4. Thought it'd be a good idea while the bike is parked up for longer periods of time. Any thoughts? hmm.gif

I use an Oxford Oximiser which charges at 0.6A. It says that it can be left connected and charging, but for some reason (probably cos I'm old fashioned) I just put it on for 24hrs or so once a month. Seem to keep my battery in good shape. Definitely much better than letting a battery go low and boost charging it.

I have been using an Optimate 3 for many years on my TTR and WR gel batteries and it works great. I do the same as Steve and just top up the batteries if the bikes haven't been used for a while.
