Headlights on MX bikes: Actually functional or just a trail requirement?

I saw a new aftermarket enduro headlight pop up today, and the fitment list cracked me up. It fits everything from a mellow TTR225 trail bike to a factory street-legal WR250R, all the way to a fire-breathing YZ450.

It got me thinking about the guys who strap these onto pure MX bikes. Whenever I see a YZ out in the woods with a headlight, I always wonder what the actual intent is.

For those of you who have converted a motocross bike for enduro use—are you genuinely using these aftermarket lights to navigate tight single-track in the dark, or is it strictly a box-checking exercise to get a plate or meet an ORV park rule? Do you actually trust your setup when the sun goes down?
