I guess that’s a no then...lol. Might have to give Fowlers or even Yamaha a buzz and see if they can point me in the right direction.
Someone out there must sell a match. If I’m going to go to the extent of rubbing down, treating and spraying these few areas, I’d be mad not to put myself out to get the correct colour black.
As a by the way. To help prevent areas rusting such as where joints in the frame meet, hard to get to areas that hold water and surface rust in general, I’ve been advised to use this by some TRF buddies....
Sprayed on after washing, before you put the bike away. It’s said to disperse all the water away and thus help against rust. A couple of mates swear by it and I’ve seen lots of positive comments online so I’ll give it a go and we’ll see if the magic works.
You may be the only owner touching up his black frame Paul
It is very easy to spoil painted surfaces even with the best intentions of a repair. Aerosols only deliver a very thin layer of paint so its important that any bare metal is properly rust proofed and primed before colour coating and lacquering.
For my old Brit bikes (BSA A10 and C15) I use either a small tin of Humbrol modellers black enamel or, for bigger areas, Hammerite Smooth Black. Blends in well and keeps the rust at bay
Good luck with the job!
Brian
PS My solution to keeping rust at bay is to spray the whole of the bike (except the seat and grips) with WD40
Unfortunately the areas that are rusting are certainly going to lead me to trouble if I don’t address them this summer. I really must stop using her as a submarine... smiles.
