SUMMARY: Yamaha Motor Corporation , USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 WR250R motorcycles manufactured August 1, 2013, to June 1, 2016. Due to an incorrect assembly process, the clutch push lever oil seal may crack, allowing engine oil to leak out.
CONSEQUENCE: If oil leaks from the engine, the oil may get on the rear tire, causing a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY: Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will replace the clutch push lever oil seal, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in November 2016. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha’s number for this recall is 990108.
I wonder if this will affect bikes in Europe and the rest of the world .
If Yamaha are anything to go by on past record, they were superb for speed and service when it came to all of our worldwide stator recalls and i'm sure they'll do us proud once again .
As it goes, i think most of us here on the forum have bikes that are out of the date range for being affected. The problem appears to be on newer models, but that leads me to my final point. What's changed on the newer bikes that is different to earlier models then? I didn't believe the bike had been changed in anyway since first addition. If it is only bikes in the States that are affected i could understand that a little more as there are a few minor differences between EU and US models. I'm sure that there's gonna be an interesting debate sparked now at the very least .
Watch this space,
Paul.
