Hi I will be looking for new tyres in the spring for my wr250r I was thinking of Dunlop d606 front and rear I normally ride 70% on road and the rest on mild off road not deep mud ect do you recommend these tyres or are there better alternatives? All the best for Xmas and new year. Martin
I'd love a set of D606's. You'd have to import them over from the States though i think. I found them impossible to get here in England and don't think Dunlop make them for the UK market. Somewhere like Amazon but be a goer.
Must be honest though, a very aggressive tyre that you may find a bit much if you ride 70% on the road. Also maybe a little unnecessary if your off road use is mild and avoids the fun and games of deep mud.
Hi I didn't know you could not get these tyres in UK can you recommend some tyre makes that might suit my riding. so I can look them up on the interweb thanks martin
I'll be honest, I'm not so knowledgeable with regards to a 70/30 dual sport tyre outside of the stock Bridgestone Trailwings. I ride predominantly off-road in deep mud and filth, so use aggressive tyres along the lines of the D606's. I'm currently sporting a Mitas C02 on the rear and love it. Does seem to be a popular choice amongst UK greenlaners, but is probably again a little much for what you're looking for. Mitas XT-914 on the front, again very aggressive. Both the front and rear were extremly squirly on the tarmac when new, but settled down somewhat after 100 miles or so. They are a million miles away from being 70/30 though.
Trailwings are as good as anything for how you use the bike. Pity you live so far from me. You could have had my part worn ones to try out. They came off as soon as I bought the bike for more off tarmac biased tyres. Currently using a Surge 120/100 on recommendation on the rear and it's s proving great in grip and life.
