In almost a year that I've been out! Sad I know but trickle charge and first thumb and off she went. She is far more capable than me - 1hour of woods and I'm done! had reduced gearbox sprocket to 12 but the 43 rear - need to up it up so off to read your thoughts on that.

Good to see you out and about on the WRR!

The most common sprocket set we sell for trail riding is 14/47 although 14/49 is good if you have some technical going.

12T is a bit hard on the chain IMHO.

Hey ya Jon,

Nice little shot in the woods there. Feeling sore's a sure good sign of a great day smile

12 up front always makes me worry for potential swing arm damage from the chain wearing at it hard on this bike. That's not to say others haven't found it to be fine. Maybe i'm just to aggressive on the whoops and jumps...biggrin

I run 13- 48 at present (with 112 link chain) and love it. Minimal wear on the chain slider/ seal guard. Great for the trails and tight stuff. I find the throttle to be a little smoother down low now compared to previous stock gearing. Max out just over 80 MPH on the slab, although much happier holding a comfortable 70 ish, (that's on a stock Trailwing tyre. Once i change over to a larger diameter Mitas tyre, i expect to take the scream out the top end a little bit, and could possibly hit 85 MPH ish when pushed if you're crazy enough).

I really like this site for gearing calculations; www.gearingcommander.com It really helped me to decide what i was looking to achieve. Make sure you include your rear tyre size too as it will obviously also have an effect on the end result. Just keep bashing in differnet combinations you like and have a good play with the site. I found it to be extremely informative and useful thumbsup.gif

If you size up in the rear and find you need a longer chain too,  www.totallywrs.com does a nice little package of chain, counter and rear sprocket from Renthal and Talon.

Out and about a couple of days ago...

Never thought i'd say it, but loving the rain and mud. It's really helped me to hone my skills back in, especially as skating around on the old deathwings still m0127.gif

Happy days...

Grassroots.

Brian / Grassroots,

Thanks for the excellent feedback on suggested gearing and link to the gearing calculations. Chain slider is showing signs of wear so take your point on the 12 tooth front.

I can't believe you've been buzzing around on trailwings - the twinduros I've fitted are bad enough!

thanks again guys,

jon
