Looks tidy enough to me.  I thought you Devon boys all wore trials rears?  Is that a brand spanking new Enduro pattern tyre that you have put on?

My new seat and side panels are currently stuck in Customs at Heathrow but am hopeful that I will get them by the end of the week. Not short of other things to do meanwhile though!

The log book only had the first owner in so I wrote to him. He rang me on Sunday and we had quite a chat. The WRR was stolen from him and found left in the car park opposite his house after the thieves realised it had no battery and they had no hope of starting it. He still has some of the original parts including its seat! Sadly he threw the side panels away a couple of weeks ago 

I am waiting for him to sort out exactly what he has left and give me a price for it.

I have had a WR250R lurking in the garage for a while now. A message from my son Matt that he was visiting at the weekend and wanted to go trail riding prompted me to dig it out and set it up for the lanes.

This involved fitting new chain and sprockets with 13/48 gearing, a speedo healer to correct the resultant wildly inaccurate digital speedo,  replacing a non-trail friendly FMF Q4 with a standard exhaust and header pipe, sump guard and case saver.

I also sorted out a feed for the GPS, fitted a RAM mount for it, and some longer side straps for my Wolfman Enduro tank bag.

I had already fitted Dakar High bars, a Comp IV front tyre, and a small rear rack (to make up for lack of grab handles) a few months ago but that was as far as I had got.

The Devon TRF Group held a new event at the weekend, the Axe to Exe (A2E), which was 2-day of guided trail riding in the East Devon area offered to TRF members nationwide.

My brother Trev and I did some bike fettling on the previous Friday and then did a short trail ride which allowed me to test out the WRR.

I volunteered as a run leader for both days of the A2E and had Trev as my Tail End Charlie (TEC).

Matt rode the WRR on the Saturday and really enjoyed it. I had problems with the power feed to the GPS on my TR325 so had to use the WRR on the Sunday.

The WRR performed faultlessly and I also really enjoyed riding it!

The seat is more comfortable than it looks and despite over 20 hours in the saddle over the 3 days I didn't suffer from monkey butt!

The engine is smooth and pulls beautifully - I guess that's down to the FI.

The 13/48 gearing seems right thank goodness!

We were lucky with the weather and I had a great time.

We did stop for occasional refreshment

I hope our paying guests enjoyed it as much

It's a very civilised trail bike and I am very impressed with it. A very good replacement for the TTR in Yamaha's line up - except that they have seen fit to withdraw it from the UK market 

Not as much fun as my TTR325 big bore though and a darn sight harder for the DIY owner to work on

Yes, I get about 80 miles greenlane riding before the light.  Thats from 5 litres of fuel.  The remaining 2 should therefore give another 32 miles.  Not quite as much as I would like.

Certainly not a patch on the DR with its Acerbis long range tank!
